A large-scale flip-dot display built to create striking black-and-white visual effects. The installation transforms thousands of mechanical pixels into a dynamic surface capable of projecting moving patterns and fractal-like video compositions.
Pure black and white motion
Flip-dot technology uses tiny rotating discs that switch between black and white surfaces. When thousands of these elements move together, the result is a tactile display with a distinctive mechanical character.
The structure supports a grid of modules that operate in perfect synchronization, generating animated graphics and complex visual textures.
The display explores the expressive power of binary imagery. Through precise programming, simple black-and-white pixels evolve into intricate fractal animations that ripple across the entire screen.
The installation required careful calibration of electronics, mechanics and software to achieve smooth transitions between frames. The result is a hypnotic surface where mechanical movement becomes a form of visual storytelling.
